Perkasie Park Founders Day 2015 A Big Success
Perfect weather and a big crowd made the third annual Perkasie Park Founders’ Day a landmark success for the historic camp meeting celebrating its 133rd anniversary on August 8, 2015.
More than 200 people visited the Park to take cottage tours, listen to the Sweet Adelines and the Upper Buck Senior Center Orchestra, and go back in time at the privately owned 21-acre facility
“Thanks to everyone who helped make Founders’ Day a big success. We had people from Perkasie, three local counties and New Jersey who came to the event. Counting folks who organized the event and opened their cottages, at least 20 cottagers worked together to make this a big weekend for the Park,” said Scott Bomboy, president of the Perkasie Park Association.
Local news coverage included a story on page A3 of the The Intelligencer and the Bucks County Herald will have a story later this week.
Perkasie Park features 60 Victorian-era cottages, a historic outdoor auditorium, and other buildings located on 21 acres of open space within Perkasie Borough. It is a summertime community for association members who travel from as near as South Perkasie and as far as Texas, Florida and Arizona to spend time at Perkasie Park.
“Most people who visit the Park for services and events, or to see friends and family,
Perkasie Park received a determination of eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places in 2014, and it has been designated as a Historic Structure by Perkasie Borough. Its auditorium is on the Bucks County Heritage Conservancy list. The Park has held summertime religious services in the auditorium since 1882 and it has hosted services for nearly every religious group in the local Perkasie/Pennridge region.
